Duane’s 64 ½ Mustang

This project’s story begins many years ago.  My father bought a ’64 Mercury Comet four door (260 V8 3 sp. manual) brand new (the only car my father ever bought new).  When I was 15 my neighbor failed to stop when leaving his farm driveway and hit me in the Comet coming home from track practice.  The car was junked all except the motor and tranny.  I bought a ’66 coupe in the 80’s that I was going to put this drive train in, but the ’66 had to be sold to help pay for college.  In 2002, I found a 64 ½ Mustang (original 260 3 speed car) in Omaha on Ebay (What are the chance’s of that?).  The car was only a shell with everything else in boxes.  It took four years of work in my garage to get to the point it is today.  The Mustang has been modified slightly in some areas.  Here are some details:

Marina Blue Paint Color
260 3 sp manual on the floor (very detailed engine compartment)
Edelbrock intake and 500cfm carburetor
Painless Performance wiring harness (almost completely hidden)
6 gauge aluminum dash with Auto Meter gauges
Interior dash, doors, painted Marina Blue to match exterior
Sound deadening in floor, headliner, doors, quarter windows, firewall, back deck & under dash
American Eagle Wheels on BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires
PS, PB, A/C, Pioneer & Eclipse Sound system

The car was built as a comfortable, quiet car that I can drive anywhere.  A special thanks to my wife for her patience and to Ken Millard for painting my car.
